People eat to live, but if your objective is to stay fit or to increase the muscle, then things change.

One must follow an adequate diet to obtain results, without taking dangerous shortcuts: supplements, drugs, anabolic steroids and, even!, drugs for animals are used by those that want "to obtain quick results": these are not "results", those are dangerous actions given to our bodies, contrasting sport and medicine advice.

A good diet, balanced and aimed to a natural result (always under the control of your MD, someone that knows you well) is what Nature offers for the right and harmonic body development; to know how muscles use the energy from the food is important for avoiding stress to the body.

By example, it is necessary to know that a high protein diet can not totally eliminate the carbohydrates, because carbohydrates are necessary to the performance of important organs (like the brain, that "burns" glucose):

if (after a hard effort) the body had consumed the glucose supply (the glycogen in the liver and the muscles) it could be possible that the body uses muscles to obtain energy, "eating" muscles!
